Tomb of King Muryeong
Tomb of King Muryeong where the 25th King Muryeong (501-523) and the queen were buried together is located in Songsan-ri old tomb group nearby Gomnaru (a dock) passed comfortably by Geumgang. 2,960 relics, of 108 different types, were excavated from here, since two memorial stones of King and Queen were found it was identified as the tomb of the 25th King Muryeong. 12 relics among the excavated relics were designated as National Treasures. |
Gongju National Museum
The burial accessories of the 25th King Muryeong in Baekje and about 8,000 relics from each period are exhibited at the GongjuNational Museum. Especially, you can feel the taste of culture and art from the Ungjin period of Baekje from Geumdong Gwaneum Bosalsang, Gyeyumyeong Samjoncheonbulbisang, Baekje earthenware, and lotus carved tiles. The remains excavated from 1964 are important materials that show that there was an Old Stone Age in this country, and the relics excavated from here show the life of the human beings during the Old Stone Age |
Baekje History and Culture Museum
This museum was built within the Baekje History Reproduction Complex to help visitors to better underatand the dynasty by presenting significant relics and historical facts in the form of miniatures, graphics, and images. The Center for Baekje History and Culture researches and provides information on Baekje history and culture. |
Busosanseong
As you enter Buyeo, the Mt. Busosan with a dark blue forest that is the guardian mountain in Buyeo and 100 meters above the sea level will appear firstly in th e north of the city. The history and story of the Royal family of Baekje such as Nakhwaam where lots of women fell down like petals, Baekhwajeong, Sajaru, Goransa (temple), Busosanseong (castle), Yeongilru for sunrise, Samchungsa (temple) which worshiped the faithful retainers of Baekje like Seongchung, Heungsu, Gyebaek, Gunchang site which was a grain storehouse, impressive mud castle are sunk into all sides. |

Daecheong Dam
Daecheong Dam is a multi-purpose dam consisting of a 72m-tall and 495m-long concrete gravity dam and rockfill dam. It is located where Daejeon and Chungcheongbuk-do meet. The observatory, located at Palgakjeong Service Area, offers a great view of Daecheongho Lake. A variety of fascinating items are displayed in the Water Culture Center on the left bank of Daecheong Dam. A nearby grassy meadow promises a relaxing and comfortable rest, while local delicacies such as freshwater fish stew and marinated grilled eel are a delight to taste. |
Cheongnamdae
It is built on an area of about 460 acres near the Daecheong Dam in Cheongwon-gun, Chungbuk. Cheongnamdae which means the 'Blue House on the warm South Region,' is the exclusive villa for the presidents. Cheongnamdae was protected by the top security facility of the county. On April 18, 2003, president Roh Moo-hyun of the Participatory Government transferred its ownership to Chungbuk and it was then opened to the public. |

Ppuri Park (Family Roots Park)
Ppuri Park, located in Chimsan-dong, Jung-gu, is a park honoring filial piety. It was founded with the aim of instilling in the younger generations a sense of loyalty to, filial piety for, and admiration of the spirit of their forefathers. Sculptures show the origins of Korean surnames, and facilities are available for cultural and sports activities. Ppuri Park is also suitable for family picnics and walks. |
Daejeon Observatory
The Daejeon Observatory offers people opportunities to observe celestial bodies. This observatory is the first of its kind in Korea in terms of accessibility for ordinary people to observe astronomy. The observation of the sun can be made during the day, and during the night observations of other celestial bodies such as planets, nebulas, and clusters of stars, the Milky Way is available through its astronomical telescopes. |
